Lieutenant Allister Caine

   Caine was the guy that got me into warmachine. I got in during Escalation when a friend showed me the Prime rulebook. This game with giant robots seemed pretty neat. And out of all the warcasters in the book this magic gunfighter had the most appeal. Which is how I started playing Cygnar.

   The great thing about Caine is that he's very well rounded. As a support caster he's solid with Snipe, Blur, and Deadeye. He has some janky movement and assassination potential with Thunderstrike. He can stay very safe with Teleport. But if he needs he can also super solo it up and just kill squads by himself. He's the origin of the phrase "POW 12s kill casters.".

   Soon after I started playing Warmachine Ashlynn was released in NQ#1 and I then got into mercs. Which meant I never got around to painting my original Caine model. Then when the new Caine came out in 2009 it meant I wasn't likely to any time soon either. But I was mainly playing Legion then so he was on the back burner again. Basically it's taken me since 2004 to get around to painting the warcaster that got me into the game.

Throne of Everblight

The Throne has been a lot of work. I really wanted to get it done by the end of the month so I've been putting in a bunch of extra nights to get it finished. The colours are a bit different on the Throne since GW changed its paint line up. The green base is Vallejo Game Colour Cayman Green Highlighted up to the new GW Elysian Green. The brown is based with Vallejo Game Colour Charred Brown highlighted up to a mix of Charred Vrown, GW Skrag Brown, and the old GW Blazing Orange.

It has been playing decently as well. It's not going to beat up enemy heavies, but it does its job in the role of anti-infantry monster. The magic attacks are also a nice addition. Plus it looks great on the table.

 

 

Annyssa Ryvaal, Talon of Everblight

Annyssa is one of Legion's best characters. She has a few things going for her. First of all, she does what you buy her for and does it well. She can shoot and back up all day long, harassing the flanks and circling around to get at rear support pieces. Second, she's relavent all game. She transitions from shooting up infantry to smacking preyed warcasters very nicely. And third, she makes the Raptors, already one of Legions best units, even better. Veteran Leader kind of sucks on Finn, but on a large base that the Raptors can see through most of two armies it's really solid.

Legionnaires

I've been really liking my Legionnaires. They get in the way and occasioanlly kill stuff. And they feed my Spawning Vessel which I also have done.

Long Gunners

So, these guys have been like a millstone around my neck. They just took forever to do. On the bright side, now they're done and it's another full infantry unit for the army. I'm finding the Long Gunners a bit erratic in MKII. With the right caster against the right opponent they can be great, blasting infantry and jack alike. But with the wrong warcaster or against the wrong army they have often proven to be a complete waste of points. I can see why people like Gun Mages better, they're just more consistent. Plus I feel Aiyanna & Holt are almost mandatory for any list with Long Gunners just to make sure your investment isn't shut down by things like the Choir or Wind Wall.

Saeryn

I finaly finished the details on Saeryn so here she is. The pose is a blatant copy of a Saeryn that I saw on the Privateer Press modelling forum. I'd give credit but I can't remember their name. At any rate I think the change of pose with her about to throw the knife and covered face really helps her match Rhyas's ninja look.
